Joining the Henry County Police Explorers, Post 562 is an exciting opportunity to delve deep into the world of law enforcement, community service, and leadership development. To streamline your application process, follow the steps outlined below:

  • Ensure you read all instructions and guidelines before filling out the application
  • Fill in all required fields accurately and comprehensively. Be honest and transparent in your responses
  • Attach any required documentation, certificates, or references as specified in the application guidelines

Step 3: Preparing your Email

  • Once you've completed the application form(s), scan them to create a digital copy (if they are not already in a digital format). Ensure that the scans are clear and legible
  • Name your files logically, for example: "JohnDoe_ApplicationForm.pdf"
  • Draft an email to ACE@co.henry.ga.us
  • Use a clear and concise subject line, such as "Application for Henry County Police Explorers"

Step 4: Attach and Send

  • Attach your scanned application form(s) and any other required documentation to the email
  • Before hitting send, double-check everything. Ensure all documents are attached, the email address is correct, and your message is error-free

  • What are your business hours?

    Someone will be avalible in office Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; however, we can also be reached via ACE@co.henry.ga.us or 770-288-7730.

  • Where is your main office?

    Our main office is located at the Henry County Police Department Headquarters, located at 108 S. Hinton Parkway, McDonough Georgia 30253.

  • How long does the Explorers program last?

    The Explorers program caters to young adults from ages 14 to 20 years old. Explorers can stay in the program unitl they age out, at 21 years old. At which we hope to extend an oppurtunity of employment with the Henry County Police Department. 

  • Are there physical fitness requirements or restrictions?

    No, we want all young adults to be able to participate in the Explorers program. Once an Explorer ages out of the program if they seek employment with the Henry County Police Department, there are physical fitness requirements that must be met.  

  • When can someone join?

    We are always accepting applications. Sence we meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, there is no deadline to have an application turned in by. 

  • What type of hands on experience will I receive?

    We provide our Explorers with the same triaing our police officers receive (no real firearms); such as handcuffing, CPR, first aid, traffic stops, building clearing, de-esscalation, weapon retention, community policing, virtual simulator,  and so much more.

  • What do I need prior to joining?

    The most important thing to bring with you to each meeting is a good attitude! All other equiptment and uniforms will be provided. 

  • Will we have meetings when school is out ?

    YES! We will have fun events, oppurtunitys for you to come work with us, and training schedualed on school breaks and over the summer. Meetings will be more frequient, multiple times a week, during these times.
